How does the proxy server work

Proxy server essentially acts as a bridge between users and the Internet. You do not have to connect directly to the website or other users, but to a proxy server, which will communicate with the website on your behalf.

1. The proxy server receives traffic from the website and forwards it back to users. In this secure way, users and websites can be separated from each other, and proxies act as intermediaries.

The specific proxy servers used globally vary by use case, security requirements, compliance requirements, or other specific requirements. Proxy servers anonymize users by changing their IP addresses, which makes it much more difficult for hackers to locate if they want to access specific devices on the network.

Firewall is a security system to protect the network from external threats. Firewalls are primarily configured to block unwanted access or protect users from installing malware on their systems.

2. Proxy servers are usually deployed as hosts of these firewalls so that they can check the compliance of traffic before it reaches the network.

Many organizations use proxy servers as content filters to block outgoing traffic to some unpopular or insecure sites.

Users can use proxy servers to go beyond these content filters. By storing data from these websites, caching makes it easier and faster to access websites you have visited before. Proxies can cache websites for you to help reduce latency.
